CREATE THE SPACE YOU DESERVE
AN ARTISTIC JOURNEY TO EXPRESSING YOURSELF THROUGH YOUR HOME

Synopsis by chapter
Create your Space is like a ‘cookbook’ with the ingredients of emotional, thoughtful, playful, creative and practical how-tos for creating the space you deserve.

The recipe for creating your home requires:
   • mixing the unexpected
   • trusting your inner knowing
   • stirring it all up into a surprising and artistic mixture
   • and then leaving it to bake...undisturbed.

Introduction:
The base ingredient is deciding to decide!
Deciding that you’re worth paying attention to and that you deserve to have the best you can create.

Chapter one
Clearing the crud is like waxing the bottom of a baking tin. Crucial is the clearing the way of the no longer needed or wanted; both emotional and physical.

Chapter 2
Writing, writing and writing.
Writing the picture of what you see for yourself and your home
Write it, edit it, throw it away, start over, write again. Hone in on it, get clear, don’t let go until YOU KNOW what your heart desires.

Chapter 3
See it in pictures, see it in your imagination.
Draw it if you can. Visit model homes, study floor plans.
Drive around and take photos of homes you want to live in.
Capture a detail you can’t live without.
And now, edit and throw away all the materials you absolutely don’t want.
Prioritize your vision.
With all of the ingredients gathered it’s time to mobilize the creatiing.

Chapter 4
Asking. Learn to be grateful for help;
to be sufficiently confident to not have all the answers, and a level of maturity, and the willingness to learn the new.
Learning is fun when it’s getting you to where you want to go.
Chapter 5
Every room, nook,
space offers a chance
to be creative.
Like baking a cake...get the base ingredients
gathered and then have fun.

Chapter 6
Decorating or entertaining the eye.
Relax.
There’s every kind of decorating.
Style one is the non-decorated style.
I like the word concept best for arriving at something
I like.
My concept is cottage. Knowing this, makes design choices so much easier.

Chapter 7
Storage is the most creative challenge of all.
First, ditch what you don’t love and definitely the things you don’t use.
Take stock of areas and items that can be reinvented. Notice the fabulous wicker basket that begs to be a storage unit.

Chapter 8
Gardening gets us down on our knees and digging in the dough.
Trust what you plant will grow and bring something wondrous: silly, colorful, useful for none other than the joy of it all.

Conclusion
Last course is the first course.
Enjoy.
Give gratitude for the spirit of it all.
Is your creation perfect? There is no such thing.
Does it meet your needs and expectations more
than not?
Be grateful and get on with the enjoying and the
living fully. jb
